Companies, public authorities, museums, galleries, archives, universities and colleges, scientific institutions and institutes have analog and digital assets of irreplaceable value. Effective use is often hampered by complex processes of development and search.
As the protectors of our cultural heritage, cultural institutions of all kinds bear an extraordinarily high responsibility for our society. The objects entrusted to them are not only to be preserved, but also to be opened up and published in a profoundly scientific way. The necessary depth of information is unprecedented. Consequently, the relevant databases provide tools for managing an extremely high density of linked information.
Media data is playing an increasingly important role in this context. In the near future, the properly organized handling of media data will gain existential significance. Only with an effective workflow of the media data there are good chances for future success.
If configured appropriately, the DAM system automatically stores the assets in a secure central storage location, so that the data is protected against unauthorized access and loss.
On the output side, a DAM system also offers great advantages. Whether from the museum database or from the DAM system itself, selected assets can be automatically converted into the form required for the intended application when they are downloaded or sent. This includes scaling to the correct file size, conversion to the correct color space and file format, or the selection of a cropping area. The DAM system can be set up in such a way that you only have to click on the purpose for which the file is needed, e. g. an image for a print 20×30 or for a photo exposure 13×18 or for a web presentation or similar.
The necessary editing processes then run automatically on the server and the image file reaches the recipient in the desired form. It is no longer necessary to store several file formats and sizes.
A good Digital Asset Management System (DAM) is based on an effective digital workflow. Conception and implementation of the digital workflow demand a lot from those in charge: expertise, leadership, sensitivity and much more. There is never enough time for this.
We will be happy to relieve you by creating your individual concept, constructing the database with you, programming adaptations, make the installation and supervising the operation of the database.
We ask for the necessary information and wishes and design the entire project according to your individual needs. If you have your own in-house capacities for certain tasks, we only do what you want to outsource.
Canto represents one of the most advanced concepts with over 2,500 active client-server installations worldwide with the Cumulus branded product.
As a Canto Certified System Integrator (CCSI) and Canto Platinum Partner, we are one of the few companies that have the expertise and authority to support all Cumulus Server solutions through to the Enterprise Edition – from design, license sales, installation, customization, and technical maintenance.
Conception and consulting
Digital media data increasingly determine the everyday organization of companies, authorities and cultural institutions. In order to reduce the technical routine work involved to a minimum, it is necessary to plan and implement the handling of this data effectively and prudently. The core of a functioning workflow is an efficient database for Digital Asset Management (DAM). Your genius can only really develop if the environment fits. It must be embedded in a digital workflow that is precisely tailored to the individual needs of the operator.
The DAM system will decisively change work processes. Since the working methods of the individual editors and users are influenced to a considerable extent, they should be involved in the development of the concept from the very beginning. We are happy to incorporate our experience and support you in the preparatory work.
Together with you, we will advise you on the following questions:
On this basis, we submit proposals, draw up rough concepts and work out finished concepts (also as requirement specifications, specifications, tenders, etc.).
Configuration and programming
No two projects are alike, and for this reason a central component in the development of a Digital Asset Management solution is the individual configuration.
The aim is to install and set up the solution in line with the requirements. With Cumulus, this is something that’s been planned from the outset, so it’s not surprising that the number of possibilities in this area seems confusing.
For this reason, we see ourselves as a partner with the necessary know-how to meet these special requirements and will set up “your Cumulus” accordingly to your wishes. Experience has shown that the need for custom programming comes at a comparatively late stage and we also offer this as our services.
For very specific requirements, Cumulus’ open architecture with nearly a dozen APIs and plugin ports makes it easy to modify existing features or add new ones.
For example, we offer the development of modules, plug-ins, and integrations in third-party systems if the configuration of Cumulus is not sufficient for the existing requirements.
Together with us your requirements become ideas.
Training and Support
Many training courses are geared to the requirements of the project so that we are happy to adapt the focal points to your ideas.
