Bavarian State Library
In a long-term collaborative project, we support the Bavarian State Library Munich in the digitization, cataloguing, and publication of the stern Photo Archive. With around 15 million images, mostly in negative format, this collection represents one of the most extensive visual records of contemporary history and is now being gradually made accessible to the public.
CDS Gromke e.K. accompanies the Bavarian State Library in this project with the following services:
- Consulting on digitization and cataloguing workflows
- Digitization of 35 mm negatives with continuous data delivery
- Setup and support of the Digital Asset Management (DAM) system for image cataloguing at the reportage level, including all necessary workflows
- Integration of the DAM system with the Integrated Authority File (GND) of the German National Library for subject terms, geographic data, persons, organizations, and works
- Publication of digitized materials via a DAM-based portal with order functionality
We thank the Bavarian State Library and the stern Photo Archive team for the excellent collaboration and look forward to continuing our work together on this remarkable project.
